Implanon

Implanon is a small, flexible rod inserted under the skin of your upper arm by a healthcare professional. It releases a steady dose of progestin, a hormone that prevents ovulation, thickens cervical mucus, and thins the uterine lining, making it difficult for sperm to reach an egg.

Implanon is effective for up to three years and is a convenient, long-term contraceptive option that requires minimal maintenance.

Hormonal & copper IUDs

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are small, T-shaped devices inserted into the uterus by a healthcare provider. Hormonal IUDs release progestin to prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, and thin the uterine lining.

Copper IUDs do not contain hormones. Instead, they release copper ions that are toxic to sperm, preventing fertilisation. IUDs can provide up to 10 years of protection, depending on which IUD you choose.

Contraceptive pill

The contraceptive pill is an oral medication taken daily to prevent pregnancy. There are two main types: combined pills, containing both estrogen and progestin, and progestin-only pills.

The pill works by preventing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, and thinning the uterine lining. It requires consistent daily use to be effective, and many women have found success in using it to regulate their menstrual cycles and reduce menstrual cramps.
