Cancer Screening

Breast cancer screening

Early detection is so important in breast cancer cases and screening as soon you’re at risk is essential. BreastScreen Queensland provides free breast cancer screening and assessments to women aged between 50 and 74 years old. However, you can opt-in from the age of 40.

If you have a family history of breast cancer, we highly recommend speaking with a GP to discuss your specific circumstances.

Cervical cancer screening

Cervical cancer screening is the best way to detect health issues early. When you are between 25 and 74 years old, you are encouraged to book a cervical cancer screening test every five years. You can have your cervical cancer screening completed here in our clinic, or you can get a referral from one of the GPs in our clinic to do self-collection.

Bowel cancer screening

Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, but early detection can greatly enhance treatment success. Australian women receive bowel cancer screening tests in the mail at 50 years old. If you have a family history of bowel cancer, you should seek medical advice about seeking a test earlier. People aged 45-49 can now opt in for screening.  If you are 50 to 74 years old, you will continue to be sent your kit.

Family history of cancer? Discuss this with your GP.

A family history of cancer can create some anxiety around your chance of developing cancer. It’s important to understand your family history and what your risk factor looks like. If you have a family history of cancer, we recommend meeting with Sirona Women’s Health.

We will work with you to evaluate your risk and recommend appropriate screening tests and preventive measures. We take a personalised approach to support you in navigating this process, whether that includes genetic testing or tailored screening schedules.

By discussing your family history with your GP, you can take proactive steps to protect your health and detect potential issues early.
